DebateMe Ltd — Company No. 16595958
Last updated: 11 September 2026

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of DebateMe (debateme-ivory.vercel.app and any successor domains), operated by DebateMe Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16595958).

By creating an account or using DebateMe, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use DebateMe. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 16 or older. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts where we reasonably believe the user is under 16.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your account with others or create multiple accounts. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

4. What DebateMe Provides

DebateMe is a live video debate practice platform. We provide structured debate rooms, AI-powered scoring and coaching feedback, daily debate puzzles, and related features. Our goal is to help you improve as a debater — think of us as a training ground, not a competition for prizes.

AI scoring is generated by a large language model. Scores and feedback are provided for educational and practice purposes only. They are not infallible, and they do not represent the views of DebateMe Ltd or any human judge.

5. Code of Conduct

When using DebateMe, you agree to:

Engage respectfully with other users, even during heated debate. Debate the argument, not the person.

You must not:

  • Use hate speech, slurs, or language targeting someone's race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or other protected characteristic
  • Harass, threaten, intimidate, or bully other users
  • Share sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise inappropriate content via video, audio, or text
  • Attempt to cheat, manipulate, or game the scoring system
  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
  • Deliberately disrupt debates (e.g. refusing to speak, playing loud audio, or repeated disconnection to waste an opponent's time)
  • Record, screenshot, or redistribute another user's video or audio without their explicit consent

Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent termination of your account, at our sole discretion.

6. Reporting and Moderation

You may report users for conduct that violates these Terms. Reports can be submitted during or after a debate. We review reports manually. Submitting a report does not guarantee action will be taken, and we will not typically share the outcome of a review with the reporter.

Filing false or malicious reports is itself a violation of these Terms.

7. Recording and Live Streaming

Debates may be recorded (video and audio) and stored for up to 30 days for the purposes of safety review, quality assurance, and moderation. If a report is filed, the relevant recording may be retained until the review is complete. Recordings are not published or shared with third parties.

Your debate results, scores, AI coaching feedback, and transcripts are stored as part of your debate history so you can review previous debates. This data is retained for as long as your account is active.

You may opt in to make your debate available as a live spectator stream, visible to other DebateMe users. Live streaming requires both participants to opt in — your debate will never be streamed without your explicit consent. By opting in, you agree that other users may watch your debate in real time. Spectators cannot interact with you during the debate.

You must not record, screenshot, or redistribute any debate (your own or others’) without the explicit consent of all participants.

8. Intellectual Property

DebateMe, its design, branding, features, and underlying code are the property of DebateMe Ltd or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the platform.

Content you create during debates (your spoken arguments, for example) remains yours. However, by using the platform, you grant DebateMe Ltd a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process, transcribe, and analyse your debate content for the purposes of providing scoring, feedback, and improving the service. We will not publish or sell your debate content to third parties.

9. Paid Features

We may introduce optional paid features or subscription tiers in the future. If we do, pricing and terms will be clearly presented before purchase. You will never be charged without your explicit consent. Any paid features will be subject to additional terms presented at the time of purchase.

10. Availability and Changes

We aim to keep DebateMe available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The platform is provided on an “as is” basis. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the platform or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

DebateMe Ltd is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £50, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

12. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, or for any other reason with reasonable notice, except where immediate termination is necessary (e.g. serious misconduct).

On termination, your right to use the platform ceases. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including limitation of liability, intellectual property, and dispute resolution) will continue to apply.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
